I had used the hard drive into my friends's and then i went back and kept it in my cpu case. i had not started it for almost a 1 and half month or so and yesterday, i tried booting the pc up, the hard drive was not being detected at all so i went to my friend to check it out again but still it doesnt work nor gets detected even in bios. I have very important files in that which i don't want to loose. The hardisk is now around 5 years old as i had bought it in 2012. Can anyone help me get back the harddisk to run?

the hdd is from Hitachi

yea, but docks are way costly here. can get a 350 gb of hdd in that.

Most of everything has a return policy associated to it. You could charge it on your credit card, use it then return it.
