NVIDIA GTX 550Ti on a generic PEGATRON low end motherboard

I don't know the model of my motherboard and I'm currently using ATI RADEON HD 4600 which supports PCI-Express 2.0. The thing is, I just got a NVIDIA GTX 550Ti graphic card which also requires PCI-Express 2.0 but I'm pretty sure they don't require the same amount of power and my motherboard probably won't be able to give enough.

What I wonder is, will my new graphic card be damaged if I use it on my low end motherboard till I upgrade it? Should I use it now or should I wait till I upgrade?

If it's any help, this is the specs of my mother board

The requirements for this card are a 400W power supply with 24A on the 12+v rail

So as it sits, you will not be able to use the 550 ti. Would you like us to recommend a new PSU? If you do, let us know your PC's model number, or what the case size is if it's a custom. We need to know how large / what form factor the PSU needs to be.

As long as the 550ti doesn't have any extra power connectors, I think you'll be fine. As far as I remember, PCIE slots can provide up to 75W of power, and if the card only runs on PCIE, then it'll only need that much. If anything, it's the power supply you should be worried about. Look up how much power the 4600HD uses and see what the difference is between it and the 550ti.

Thanks for the quick answer. I'm getting a new case anyway, I'm building a new PC from stratch. I'm thinking Cooler Master Elite 431 with inbuilt 500 W PSU. Would you recommend it?

That was my first case! I would recommend it for sure. The built in PSU...I'm not sure. Could you link me the product page? I can't find 431's with built in PSUs. But as long as it provides 24A on the 12v rail, it's good enough for what you're doing.

It was recommended to me by several people so I think I'll just get it. Also I'm sorry, "built-in" was probably a wrong choice of word as English isn't my native language. What I mean is, when you buy the case it comes with a 500W PSU. I''ll link you to the product page but it's not in English i'm afraid

It doesn't give any info on the 500w PSU it comes with...but 24A is pretty low. I'm fairly confident that even a built-in PSU, especially designed for a custom computer, should have at least that.
