Alright to start this off, i'm new to this forum and am not sure if this is the right place to ask this, but i'm going to anyway. So I currently have some cheap 30$ netgear router from staples in one corner of the house, and I game on a laptop in basically the other end, and on the second floor. The signal barely reaches up there, and if it does it's in the low hundred kb/s area for downloading, and the lag online is unbearable. I can just move downstairs or in another room if I want to play online, and it works great but that's pretty annoying.

So my question is: what should I be looking for in a router given my circumstances? Also, any suggestions on these that won't break the bank? Thanks

No wireless router will help this issue.

Either run an Ethernet cable or buy a pair of AV1200 powerline adapters to connect. If you really want wireless you can use a pair of AV1200 powerline adapters where the second adapter has built in WiFi (like THIS) that can be placed close to your gaming machine.
