Hello all,

Before we get started, here is what I'm currently running.

CPU: i5-3570k @ 4.2

MOBO: ASRock Extreme 4 Z77

GPU: MSI GTX 770 Twin Frozr

RAM: 4GBx2 Corsair DDR3

PSU: Raidmax 850AE

STORAGE: 120GB SSD (C: ) and an old 5400rpm 500GB HDD

My issue: I recently purchased a second GTX 770 as a cheap performance boost to play Mass Effect: Andromeda. With a 850w Gold Rated PSU, I thought I would be fine.

However, upon installation of the second card, issues pop up everywhere. Not only does the computer take longer to boot (the display loses connection for period of time before coming back online) but once I am logged in the computer is essentially unusable. There is a massive performance drop, there's a 15-20 second delay between moving the mouse/clicking, I get prompts for slow performance, and the computer is basically unusable. I attempted to get to GeForce settings to activate SLI in case this was the issue, but enabling SLI ended with a black screen/basically crashed.

This is the same with bridge on/off, and with the cards swapped into different spots. Both cards work fine solo.

Can someone please help? I know just getting a newer card would have been the smart move, but I don't have a lot of cash. As of right now, I have an expensive brick sitting in its box. Please help if you can!

A full GPU driver removal and a reinstall should help some, as you're seeing some issues there.

I'd be surprised if you could even uitilize that rig though. 770's are ~230W cards, and you have two of them. 77W CPU stock, and overclocked - + maybe 100W for the balance of your rig. You have potential for a 650-700W draw from a Raidmax. As a brand there are one or two that aren't too, too bad. But for the most part, those are horrible PSUs that are unstable and best, and fire hazards at worst.

Do you think the cards could not be getting enough power then? I can't imagine that'd throw the system completely to hell like it has.

Also, for the removal, should I uninstall and reinstall with one card in, the shut down and add the second?
