Powerbook g4 not turning on

I have a powerbook g4 (12 inch) and when i hold the power button the hard drive spins, the cd drive starts and caps lock lights green but the display does not turn on and there is no apple chime. Any help?

There might be a loose display cable.

However, I think this problem is more likely cause by an issue with the motherboard.

Try checking the cable.

Try removing one ram module and booting. Swap them and try again.

Its the 12 inch model so it has 256mb soldered on to the board and 1 slot for up to 1gb or ddr witch in mine is empty

You can get a working G4 for $50-100 depending on the shape, do that, swap your drive into it. No sense trying to replace parts in yours when it's a lot easier to just replace it with a full working system.
