I have a 2500 i5 sandy. Been a great processor for me. Stock cooling...cleaned out the dust, new thermal paste using the "pea" method...2 times now. When I play BF1 my cpu is constantly running at 81 - 84c. I did just recently get a GTX 970 4g Vid card and games run sweet...is the processor just underpowered? I get some glitching after an hour or so playing and my Cam monitor sends warnings of over 80c all the time. This has only happened since playing BF1 and geting the upgraded vid card.

Solution
Vertical Line method is used for applying thermal compound, not middle dot method for that CPU.

Are you talking about NZXT Cam? I just started using it and it seems like be quite buggy, my fans keep ramping up for very light loads like opening chrome and going to tomshardware.com

I don't know if the software is the culprit or not but I'm going to uninstall it to check.

In the mean time, have you overclocked at all or changed any major bios settings? Also, the stock cooler isn't much, I had the same CPU as you for years and at max load I would sit around 80ish degrees just like you.

I actually just re did the thermal paste again the CPU and it works great now. I had to much on there when I changed it. It was 4 year old thermal paste. Over the last day she doesnt get a degree over 65c playing BF1 at all Ultra settings. Plus prime95 only gets it just a shade past 70c now.
