Asus upgrading questions

I currently have a AMD A8-5500 APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics and 12 GB of RAM in my ASUS that is about 4 years old. I was wondering if i bought a Asus NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 4GB 256-Bit GDDR5 Graphics Card if it would be compatible? Also if i would need to buy anything along with this new GPU(like a new power supply?) for my PC to be able to run newish games. Trying to stay below $500.

It should work but than it would expose CPU as a weak point. No idea what your PSU is so can't tell if it's sufficient. If it's a store bought computer probably not.

I just checked my PSU its a ASUS HBA008-ZA1GT 350 Power Supply. Any recommendation as for what i should upgrade my PSU to? Also if my CPU is going to be a problem another recommendation for upgrading it to? While i'm at it any cheap, reliable, quiet fan i could buy for my pc? THANKS FOR THE REPLY!
