Does Nvidia support all GeForce GPUs, even if they are from a different company?

Right, first things first. I am new to building a PC, so my knowledge on them is limited. So, the graphics card that I chose is a "Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1070 8GB G1 Gaming Video Card". I've been struggling on whether I should get this, or go with a nvidia GPU product because of the fact that nvidia offers a feature where they will both automatically download any updates for your drive, and download the drive for you. So, the real question is, will that feature also apply to the gigabyte card?

Solution
The generic Nvidia drivers will work with all Nvidia GPUs that are still supported regardless of who the board OEM is, same goes with AMD and its GPUs. The only thing you lose by going with the generic drivers is vendor-specific extras, if any.

And yes, Nvidia sells the GPU chips while board partners make the actual PCBs and heatsinks, some based on the reference designs, some in-house.

Yes haha it's designed by Nvidia and the card is Nvidia. Gigabyte is a vendor that get's the card from Nvidia, slaps a nice aftermarket cooler on it and gives it a little clock speed tweaks to make it faster. No matter what vendor you go with you will get the same support from Nvidia. Gigabyte is a good brand in my opinion I've owned 2 of their GPUs and so far no issues. Hope this helps :)

The only major difference between this and the reference Nvidia Founder's Edition like i said, is the cooler and core clock speed tweaks.

Yeah, no matter which company you go with, you'll be getting your drivers and other supporting software from the same place- Nvidia. Appearance, clockspeed, cooling solution, warranty/customer service, these are types of things that differentiate the various companies like Gigabyte from each other.

I was under the impression that nVidia owned and sold the actual processing unit and support technology, and the vendors made (or had made) the boards and vram, and cooling, etc.
My point being that not all 1070's have a cookie cuttered circuit board and components produced by nVidia.. quality and design in that, and also the cooling does vary.

Quick correction, only certain cards use NVidia's reference PCB.

When you take a look at the most powerful offerings like the G1 Gaming, FTW, and Strix variants for example, they only get the GPU from NVidia. Then they build their own PCBs (the card the GPU sits in), with extra features, more VRMs, more mosfets, capacitors etc etc.

They do using Nvidia's reference design, graphics processor and specifications. I probably just worded my explanation a little poorly/ Sorry bout' that :p
