So i just bought this oldish computer off an NZ trading website and I noticed that the 4gb ram module already installed was 1333 mhz. I was planning to put a spare DDR3L 1600 module inside it with it (I know that it works with ddr3, tried it in my main PC) but I'm not sure if having both different speeds and different voltages will work, or even damage the ram or PC.. Does anyone know if it will work, or at least whether it will do any harm to try?

Thanks.

Hello... Well there will be a ONE Voltage setup up for both of them in your MB... I have read that the DDR3L will operate at both 1.35 and 1.5 in a DDR3 MB/controller, so there is no harm in trying... you can always run a stick of 1600 @1333 too.

What do you mean by doubts about the voltage? The DDR3l stick works fine in my main PC with my regular DDR3 ram.

That's good, because it worked! 8gbs of ram running at 1333mhz dual channel, it says.

So yes, if anyone wants to know, DDR3 and DDR3L do work together, even if they have different speeds. Well, at least if the DDR3L is a higher speed.
