Hello everyone. I'm currently happy with my system but it's quite old. there the parts:
CPU : FX8320 (OC 4.4)
MB: Gigabyte 970A UD3P
RAM: 8GB Hyper X Fury 1866 DDR3
Cooler: Hyper evo 212
PSU: Corsair CX600
1TB samsung HDD + 120GB Samsung 850 SSD
CASE: Codegen Briza
GPU: Asus HD 7790 1GB

I play games sometimes but I play mostly old games or games that are not that heavy (NFS Underground 2, Simcity, Battlefield 3, Napoleon Total War, Age Of Empires III, Fifa 14 etc). What I want is a system, that is going to be good for playing current games (not maxed out) and be upgradeable.

These are the parts that I want to buy:
CPU: Pentium G4560
MB: MSI B250M Mortar
RAM: Cheapest 2x4 DDR4 2400Mhz kit
CASE: Thermaltake Core V21

And I'm going to use my old CPU cooler(just beacuse why not), GPU, PSU and storage.

The reason I want to do this is because I can sell my CPU, MB and ram for about 200$, and I can get the new CPU, MB, and RAM for about 280$ which is basically a 80$ upgrade but with parts and standards from 2017, not 2012/14.

Am I going to notice the difference between the 8 cores FX and the Pentium and do you think that it's a good idea to get these parts and be able to buy i5/i7, another 2x4GB RAM or better GPU in the future (whatever I need).

Right now the market is a bit unbalanced and intel might make a move against ryzen cpus so buying an intel right now is not a good move, best performance money ratio right now would be a ryzen r5 1500x or 1600 with 6 cores and 12 threads. Yes it is a bit weaker then intel but trust me you will need the extra cores, in battlefield 1 my ryzen r7 1700x 8 cores and 16 threads is going to 40-50% load, i saw on youtube i7 6700k/7700k going to 80-90% load in battlefield 1. 4 cores is not enought anymore. I believe wait to see what intels release next or go for ryzen 6 cores or 8 cores. i5 is out of discussion because it will be obsolete in max 1-2 years.

On the CPU side i think that is downgrade too, but everything else is going to be better. My current build is basically unabgradeable (except ram and GPU). At least I can get some cash for it now.

I'm using my PC mostly for programming so gaming is not my priority. The thing is that i can get Asus R9 280X for 125$, and RX 470 for 210$+ (the cheapest). So I don't think it's worth it for almost twice the price.

If you're mostly programming then moving from the 8 core fx to the 2 core pentium would suck.
