Hello Friends,

I am in the process of putting together a new gaming build and as usual I turn to the community for advice! My current parts list looks like this:

1x Intel Kaby Lake i7-7700K BX80677I77700K
1x Gigabyte Aorus GA-Z270X Gaming 7
1x Corsair Vengeance LPX CMK32GX4M2B3200C16
1x EVGA GTX 1080Ti 11G-P4-6390-KR
2x Samsung 960 EVO MZ-V6E250BW
1x Corsair HXi Series PSU HX1000i
1x Fractal Design Arc Midi R2 FD-CA-ARC-R2-BL-W

My questions are as follows:

I plan to overlock a bit, maybe hitting 4.5 if possible. With that in mind, what kind of cooler would y'all recommend? The all in one liquid coolers seem to be popular, but I have exactly zero experience with liquid cooling. If I go that route is a single 120/140 radiator in the back of the case sufficient? or should I be looking at a dual rad in the front of the case?

Also with an eye to overclocking does anyone have any experience with the Gigabyte Aorus series? I saw the Gaming 9 recommended in the motherboard guide here on Tom's, but it didn't seem to offer much over the Gaming 7 to justify double the price. Does anyone know if the Gaming 7 is as robust in the overclocking options as the Gaming 9? Additionally does anyone know if all that LED crap can be turned off? I'm building a computer here not a christmas tree. :D

I look forward to your thoughts, and welcome any other general advice you'd like to give. I've built many systems before, but there's always room to learn! Thanks!

For any AIO cooler, if you have space, then you should only consider dual fan coolers and big air coolers. If you can't fit a dual fan cooler in the case, only consider air coolers. That said, big air coolers will still outperform AIO dual fan coolers in most cases. Only consider the single fan options if you can't fit either big air coolers or dual fan AIO coolers. Even then, small air coolers will outperform most single fan AIO coolers.

Regarding LEDs, I have yet to encounter a motherboard that doesn't let you turn the LEDs off. That board is no exception.

I have no experience to speak from regarding the overclocking support of that board, unfortunately.

Thanks for the responses guys. If I understand the nerd 389 correctly something like a Noctua DH14 or Coolmaster 212 EVO would keep my CPU cooler during overclocking than something like a Corsair H80i?
