SO plans have changed and I am looking to build a Micro ITX type PC for gaming but also want to use for 4K movies. I originally wanted to keep the budget at 1K. I play Final Fantasy XIV MMO about 85% of the time, but plan to do some action/adventure like tomb raider or overwatch FPS. I would like to connect the PC to a monitor but also the ability to run to my LG OLED 65" for movies (maybe a game if possible). I've never built or much attention to mITX so I am not 100% sure how to approach it. I want a Core I5, MOBO with Wifi (necessary) 8-16GB ram, up to date graphics card (I understand size is a huge factor) watercooling if possible and w/I budget. Would like a white case with glass side-paneling if possible.

Little over budget, but this should be plenty. I'm using the same case (except black) and cooler, so I know they work well together. I went with the latest i5, and the 1060 6GB is ideal for 1080P gaming at max settings for most games, and ok results at over 1080p. Future upgrades would be a 1080Ti if you're serious about 4K gaming. But this will get you a solid start.

You can trim a little if you decrease the SSD size.

Personally I'd pass on watercooling in such a small case for a few reasons. One being that your really only going to fit a lower end AIO unit in a ITX case, you can get a more effective air cooler (would probably go with H7) and more then likely it'll be cheaper.

If you want the option to OC the CPU then I'd switch it to this CPU/MB.

Pretty sure micro ITX, although I am open. Saw a couple of builds on YouTube that were under 1k. How does that AMD Radeon 480 perform, i knows it's no 1070/80 but at $200. Was wondering, thanks!

That's a super nice case. Yeah I think your right, I don't want to put a substandard water cooler in there anyway, the thought of it malfunctioning and damaging parts is concerning. The air cooler you mention is the same one I saw in one of the builds and it comes hjghly recommended. As for as 1440p or 4K gaming, would I "need" to OC? Like I said I play mostly an MMO (FFXIV) but want to play other things as well, though not as much.

Thanks again!

As far as overclocking the CPU it's a good feature to have but IMO I don't think it's a must. Personally I'd rather go locked i5 & GTX 1070 > unlocked i5 & GTX 1060/RX 480.

The Cryorig H7 is good for overclocking but is nice to have even in a locked build as it will provide cooler temps and is much quieter then the Intel Stock Fan.

Sounds good. Now to find a GTX 1070 that fits with that case's clearance.

Just to be clear:

Mini ITX = single PCIe slot
Micro ATX = 4 PCIe slots (µATX)
ATX = 7 PCIe slots

These are the typical standards, quite a few in-betweens and even smaller form factors. Most don't make it into retail parts though.

That case can handle pretty much any standard GPU length. Just shy of 13" clearance or 330mm.

So I'm about to pull the trigger. Stuck on the processor and MOBO. Is the unlocked I5 that much better for my type of games vs the stock i5? I understand its about a $35 difference for the processor but when you take into account the mobo is more expensive as well. Is OC'ing recommended in a smaller ITX type build with less ventilation?
