Hi: I recently replaced my Nvidia GeForce GT640 that didn't require a power cable with a Gigabyte GeForce GTX 750ti that requires a power cable.

Ever since replacing the video card it takes over a minute for Gigabyte to start Windows 7. When powering on I hear the first beep at 25 seconds, the next beep another 25 seconds then the final beep another 35 seconds then Windows 7 loads. Before replacing the video card it took about 25 seconds with just 1 beep then Windows 7.

Its like it's waiting for something to happen, but since nothing does it defaults, then waits for something else? Everything works fine, it just now takes over a minute to go through the Gigabyte thing before Windows 7 starts.

Motherboard is Gigabyte Z77-D3H 3.4gh. Ram 16G DDR3.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

3 beeps from an Award BIOS is usually a memory problem, but it doesn't sound like you're getting a "3 beep" code, you're getting a single beep (successful post) repeatedly, with 20+ seconds in between.

Did you remove your GPU drivers before installing the 750TI? Which variant of the 750TI do you have? I wasn't aware of any requiring aux power?

Which PSU do you have?

Yes, power on and wait. Here is the sequence as I just timed it again:

1. Power on and in 12 seconds the Gigabye screen is on
2. 1 beep at 20 seconds
3. 1 beep at 45 seconds
4. 1 beep at 1:10
5. at 1:45 Windows display starts.

I did not remove the drivers for my old GT640. Where do I locate them or how do I go about removing them? Consider me a PC noob.

The GT640 was just plugged into a slot and had nothing plugged into it and worked great. The GTX 750ti has a cable you plug into the side. Upon installing the GTX 750ti I did not plug the cable in, and nothing happened...not even the Gigabyte screen. Then I realized I need to plug in what I think is a power cable. It comes from the power supply. I did that and it worked, but with this long boot process.

I'm not sure what you mean by "what variant." I just assumed it is a power cable. It is the 6 female hole plug-in on the side of the card. (3 on to 2 on bottom)

Zalman 504 watts.

thanks for your help!

My problem of the Gagabyte splash screen taking over a minute with 3 beeps about 20-30 seconds apart has been solved.

My Gagabyte bios was outdated...by a couple years! Updated the Bios and now it works like it should.
