Hey so i have nighthawk router ac2300 r7000p and it is in access point mode right now but i want to be able to use the dynamic qos mode because when i have my computer on the playstation doesnt play videos in the max quality it should be

Solution
1) Contact century link and get your PPPoE username and password so you can use your own router

2) login to nighthawk configuration page and switch from AP back to router mode or do factory reset

3) Login to c1000a according to steps 1&2 of the guide I posted (best to be plugged directly into that modem/router with ethernet)
Default IP is 192.168.0.1; if that does not work, open a command prompt and type ipconfig, the gateway IP is the c1000a IP.

4) Look at your WAN settings page and it should say if WAN IP is static or dynamic (could also be called auto dhcp for dynamic). IF address is static then write down the IP, subnet, and default gateway information.

5) Follow the rest of the steps (3-6) in the guide linked above

6) Plug...
access point does not prioritize traffic through the internet, only the router can do that.

This is the downfall to using a great router as an access point and then having a blah router as primary.

Do you have the nighthawk setup as AP because you need 2 devices provideing wifi for range, or because you have a modem/router from ISP?
If it is due to modem/router combo you may be able to put the modem/router into a "modem only" configuration and allow nighthawk to be the actual router.

The nighthawk put itself in ap mode, my modem i'm guessing is a router/modem combo

it is a actiontec c1000A

Here is how to set the c1000a into bridge mode to function as only a modem: http://internethelp.centurylink.com/internethelp/modem-c1000a-adv-bridging-q.html
Before changing these settings see if you have a static IP or dynamic IP from century link because if it is static you will need to copy the ip, subnet and gateway settings.

You will need to go into nighthawk and set it up for PPPoE connection in wan settings and you will also need the PPPoE username and password from century link.
While you are in these settings you should go ahead and set DNS to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. This is Google's free DNS that is usually faster and more accurate then relying on your ISP.

how do i check my ip and seeing it its dynamic or static? how will i know the difference?

6) Plug cable from LAN port of c1000a into WAN port of nighthawk and go into nighthhawks configuration page

7) Go into nighthawk's wan configuration and set it to PPPoE and input the username/password you got from centurylink
If you have a static IP you will need to input that in wan configuration page otherwise leave it auto-dhcp (or could be called dynamic).

8) Now you can setup nighthawk how you want and setup QoS
