Hdd bios not supported...?

I'm fixing my buddies computer he tried to upgrade to windows 10 and it didn't finish and since then it says no boot drive found. After trying a few times. I tried plugging it into one of my working desktops and working sata cable. On my skylake it says drive name drive size and then says not supported. Why is this. And of course it doesn't show up in disc manager. Did the drive fail

It's unclear what you tried a few times. If you mean booting, it's because it didn't finish. You need to install windows and have it finish. If you mean installing a few times then there's some hardware issue.

What I tried
Test to see what happens how every it was setup

Tried booting to a Ubuntu USB and Ubuntu couldn't find the drive

Pulled the hdd out and plug it into one of my computers and windows couldn't see it so I tried disc management still didn't see the drive

Does it show in bios? If not it's dead.

You can see it in the bios hdd mottle and size but it says not supported and can't do anything with it there or in windows

Bios shouldn't have any options to do with a hdd other than boot order. Put in the windows usb and format it.
