I have an AMD A4-6300 APU Dual Core on a Gigabyte F2A58M-DS2 tried to reduce the multiplier and increase the bus speed retaining the clock speeds below 3.9GHz. Saw a fair amount of performance increase but why is that so?

data moving across a faster bus takes less time. Still it is a form of overclocking and so stability is not guarenteed. Test some. You might not need to drop the multiplier, for example and just use a modest bus increase as a mild overclock.

Is the performance going to increase if I somehow increase the bus speed even if its the same clock speed? This CPU runs on 3.7 GHz and boosts to 3.9 GHz. Going over the 3.9 GHz mark even at 3.912 MHz made my PC do weird things... DOTA 2 closes without any errors and some games refuse to run... so I kept it below.
