I decided to chase the rabbit down the hole, and try to overclock my processor. Here's my components:
FX-6300
Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD5
Corsair H60 Liquid Cooler
16GB PNY XLR8 1866MHz DDR3
Corsair CX750M
I used AMD Overdrive to overclock, which I figured was a safe move since I know absolutely squat about BIOS overclocking.
I'm sitting on 21.5 multiplier with 1.325 V CPU VID, with Turbo Core disabled. Ran Overdrive's built in stress test for ten minutes, and got no errors. I know it's not as reliable as P95, and I intend to run P95 for at least the next hour, and will report those results. Max temp according to Core Temp was 43C, which is well below thermal margin.
Can anyone with experience on this give me an opinion on this OC? I really just wanna know if AMD's Overdrive is reliable, or do I need to go into BIOS and change things, or any helpful hints or suggestions.
