Hello,
I have a Asus strix z270f gaming mobo and i have installed my graphic card in the second PCIe slot just for the aesthetics as it looks cool.
Here are specs of the slots:
2 x PCIe 3.0/2.0 x16 slots (supports x16, x8/x8)
1 x PCIe 3.0/2.0 x16 slots (max, at x4 mod)
4 x PCIe 3.0/2.0 x1 slot
My topmost and the lowermost PCIe slots are empty and have nothing installed on it. Though, when i run cpu-z it shows the link width as x8 and max. supported as x16. so, why my card is running at x8 in the second slot, when rest of the PCIe slots are empty.
Or is it just downgrading, when not playing games and will crank up to x16 when i run a game?
P.S: Updating windows and installing softwares and stuff, still a long road until i install my graphics driver and play games.
Thanks.
