Is this Fan compatible to replace the Hyper 212 EVO/X Cooler Stock Fan?

Hi there,

I am looking at buying the Hyper 212X CPU Cooler, but don't want to use the Stock Fan as my Build is solely RED LED. Will a Corsair A1225M12S 120mm OEM Fan (The LED Fan Corsair Cases often come with) mount onto the 212X or not? I've heard the only thing is you have to have a square frame for the Fan to mount a different version, so can I?

Thanks,
Stanley :)

Any 120mm fan can be attached to the cooler.
There are three problems though with the fan you want to use:
1. It is a 3-pin fixed speed fan. CPU coolers typically use a 4-pin PWM controlled fan so that the motherboard can adjust the fan speed with CPU temperature. You can get away with a fixed speed fan providing it moves enough air for the heaviest load to be cooled.
2. This fan blows only 32.95 CFM. The stock fan blows up to 82.9 CFM. This is achieved at 2000 RPM where the case fan only spins at 1200 RPM fixed.
3. Static pressure is only 0.7mm H2O. The stock fan is up to 2.7 mm H2O. This is important because a CPU cooler has a lot more resistance to airflow than a typical case exhaust fan.

So you can replace the stock fan with a 120mm fan, but you need to find one with higher static pressure, air flow and preferably PWM control.

Do you have a suggestion? I'd preferably like Solid White or Red LED as a Colour but, Static Pressure Fans are through the roof in pricing just for a CPU Cooler so should I get a Cryorig H7?

I wanted to replace the Fan it came with, and change it to a Solid White or Red LED but they're pretty pricey just for a CPU Cooler Fan, I've wanted the Cryorig H7 from the start, especially with that clean looking White Fan, and it's looking to be an option for me now...
