Hello, forum! I am new here and have been lurking in this forum for years. So firstly, thank you all for being awesome. I have a question about something that has technically been answered before. Essentially, I have bought components for my new build but am yet to buy my motherboard. I have an I7 7700k and am buying an asus ROG Maximus IX Formula z270.

The RAM I have: http://
I have READ that z270 mobos can support z170 ram . Also, I have read that in order to unlock the full memory frequency , I must enable XMP in the Bios. Is this ALL that I have to know? I do not want to build this thing and turn it on and have it short out due to the ram not being compatible. Maybe enabling XMP is unstable with certain mobos( which probably does not make any sense)? I am confused and require the Tom's Hardware Forum expertise!

Solution
G.Skill has qualified this memory for use in most if not all of its Z270 boards as you can see HERE under the QVL then ASUS tabs so you should have no issues using those sticks.
