Hello,
I recently got a laptop with a 1050TI in it, but it also has the intel 630 series in it! I was wondering if there is a way so set it so when in the "power saving" power option that it uses the 630 only and im hoping this would save battery?
Thanks, Rob

Solution
Nope, this is something you can't do in software. The Nvidia hardware has to be physically connected directly to the screen to be able to do this.

Hi thanks for the reply! its a custom made one from PC Specialist;

Its a really good laptop, although mines a bit more expensive since its not no HDD just 2x SSDs, the i7 and the 1050TI.

Right-click the dekstop. If the pop-up menu has options for both Intel Graphics Properties and Options, and Nvidia Control Panel, then your laptop is running Nvidia Optimus (not to be confused by the name your PC vendor has chosen to give the laptop).

In an Nvidia Optimus laptop, the Intel GPU is always on and always driving the screen. The Nvidia GPU acts as a co-processor. When playing games, the Nvidia GPU draws the screen in memory, then when the frame is drawn it passes it to the Intel GPU for display (vsync is essentially always on). When not playing games, the Intel GPU does all the drawing.

If you select Nvidia Control Panel from the popup menu, you can choose which games and programs use the Nvidia GPU. Or you can set it globally for everything to use the Intel GPU if you want to save power.

is that why my input lag feels high? been playing some rainbow and the input lag feels really high

I don't know about "really high", but yes using the Nvidia card via Optimus will add about 1-2 screen refreshes of lag versus direct output from a desktop GPU (without vsync). The more hardcore gaming laptops usually have a BIOS option to let you completely shut off the Intel video and have the Nvidia GPU drive the screen directly. And some use Optimus for the laptop screen, but hook up the Nvidia GPU drive the HDMI/Displayport port.
