So, I got a Z170 board some time ago, and I was planning to put an i5 6600k on it, but now, I dont really know if I should update the BIOS and get the 7600k or if I should just stick with the 6600k. I'll use it for gaming and I wanna OC a bit, which one will work better?
Thanks :D

Price difference is around $15, which isnt a lot. Performance difference is around 5% to 10%. Which can be a bit of an advantage, not much though. But the main issue you will face is updating the bios, for which you will need a Skylake chip. If you can manage that from somewhere, then there it will be a good idea to get the Kabylake(7600k). Else it wont matter much even if you get Skylake(6600k).

Thanks dude! Well, the price difference is different here since Im not from the US, however they are pretty much the same price. And, I think I can flash the BIOS through the BIOS Flash button, I just have to download the BIOS installer on a usb drive and get it to work. Another thing is that I wont be able to use some of KL features right? Since its not a 270 chipset.

Most boards do require a CPU installed to do a BIOS update, only a few fairly high end boards have the option to do a BIOS update without a compatible CPU. Check your board's documentation before buying the 7600k to make sure you actually can flash the BIOS with no CPU.

Not sure what you mean by KL features.

Kaby Lake has a couple of extra features that will only work on a Z270 motherboard like 3D Xpoint support and I think the DRM support on the IGP needed to run 4K Netflix on PC. 3D Xpoint devices are going to be insanely expensive to start, and support on the 200 series chipsets is rudimentary so it's probably not a huge deal.

Then I guess I'll stick with the 6600k, do you guys think a Hyper 212 EVO will keep it cool? Im not planning to OC right now, but I might do it in some time, I wanted to get the Cryorig H7 but its not available in my country T.T

The 212 EVO will work. I have my 6600k cooled by a CoolerMaster Hyper N520 which is worse than the 212 EVO and don't have any trouble with temperatures even when overclocked. Skylake runs fairly cool to the point where you may well hit the safe voltage limit before temperatures become a problem.

When I imported the H7 for someone, in my country, it actually cost me less than what the 212 is charged here. This is an excerpt from Cryorig customer support email communique with me... "The total costs of the H7 would be the international shipping cost (around 25 USD, at cost) + the H7's retail price (35 USD) = $60 USD and the shipment will take 4-5 days depending on your location. If you're still interested in this, then we'd need your Paypal email account to proceed in sending the payment request. As for the warranty, it's still 6 years and if you need anything or RMA, we'll just ship them over internationally."
There is a reason why its called the "EVO Killer". :D

Yeah, thats some good service, but I guess I'll just get the 212 from here :p In the future I'll see if I manage to get something from Cryorig, I really like the R1 :D Thanks!

Oh well, then I'll definetly get it. Btw, do you know if the Arctic Freezer 13 is any better? I can get it nearly for the same price as the EVO, some people told me its worth it, but I havent really look into it.

Well, after all I'll be picking the 6600k, works out of the box with the motherboard and I guess I dont really need Kabylake extra features or potential (not really a big diff.) I'll pair it with the 212 Evo. Thanks both of you Hellfire and Supernova for you help, all the info. was really appreciated, ty again :D

Yo guys, sorry for bothering you again, I read the mobo manual and It says I can update the BIOS via usb, but I have to access the BIOS first to be able to do it (rip T.T), but then... my question is, what does the BIOS flashback button on the rear I/O do? It returns the BIOS to an older one in case your overcloking fails or...?
