computer starting from usb stick

Solution

do you have windows on the USB stick and want to boot from it ? if so, I posted this in another thread, this is what you need to make sure of, otherwise, you'll have to use legacy mode not UEFI

"I had the same issue when I was trying to create a UEFI based RAID array, couldnt get the USB stick to boot, only in legacy mode, eventually with a lot of hair pulling out and studying I found the answer, this is needed before the stick even gets seen as a boot device by the bios in UEFI mode.

download rufus 2.12 http://filehippo.com/download_rufus/
plug in your USB stick
open rufus, and in device at the top select your USB stick if its not already...

open rufus, and in device at the top select your USB stick if its not already done it automatically.
file system FAT32
now browse to the windows ISO
after its loaded your ISO make sure quick format is selected and standard windows install, check device 1 pass is optional.
now go back to the top and select GPT partition scheme for UEFI in the 2nd menu option, (make sure you leave this option till last,
otherwise it will change as you select other things)
now start, takes a while"
