Will using a 3.5" HDD enclosure damage a 2.5" SSD if attached?

I want to replace my 3.5" HDD with a 2.5" SSD (forgive the redundance - just for clarity) of the same size, and simply clone the drive to avoid having to reinstall and move all sorts of data. I have a small form factor pc, so am planning on getting a 3.5" external enclosure and use my old HDD for a backup. Can I hook up the 2.5" SSD to the enclosure simply to clone the drive, and then switch the drives. Or, could putting the 2.5 drive in the 3.5 enclosure damage the 2.5 SSD drive because of the difference in voltage demands? I would rather not have to buy a SATA to USB wire that I would use once, maybe twice ever. Thanks in advance for your help.
