So as title states Im simply confused, on the Samsung 840 phsically it reads 840 EVO and its black with red stripe.

Heres the kicker, but Samsung Magician, HwInfo, and W10 says simply "Samsung SSD 840 Series". The auto update of Samsung Magician installed 840 Fw not EVO. So before I brick this thing installing more FW which do I really have?

Last question, why are my write speeds seemingly capped at 130 mbs?

I clicked on your link. There were no images or benchmarks showing. There was just advertising. A window popped open indicating there was a problem with the web page security certificate.

1. What is the model number of your Samsung 840? I am asking this because there was the original 840 released in September 2012. The sequential write benchmark of 130MB/s is about right for the 120GB version of the original 840. The following year Samsung released the 840 EVO and the 840 Pro. Both of those models improved sequential right performance up to about 530MB/s for most capacities. Still later Samsung released an mSATA version of the 840 EVO.

2. What is the brand name and model number of your motherboard?

Thanks for replying I verified what you've wrote and was shocked that 130 my cap. I guess ill have to switch to bigger SSDs because I wasn't aware with greater size came drastically improved performance.

Funny, reminded me back when I was 15 and thought ANY computer can play ANY game ...found out the hard way on a Toshiba Satellite with 4gb ram and intel HD.

TLDR: I did my research, and now I know. Thanks guy(s) :heink:
