i7 930 vs i3 4160

So i got 2 cpu and 2 motherboard.
cpu/mobo1 = i7 930/p6t7 ws supercomputer
cpu/mobo2 = i3 4160/h81m-hds r2.0
my other component are
2x4gb vengeance lp ddr3
gtx 1060 6gb amp
ssd 250gb 850 evo
hdd 1tb black series
im gonna do some gaming like hitman/watch dog 2/the witcher 3, and some video editing with vegas pro. i know i3 4160 is newer but i7 930 has 4 core. so, which one is better for me? i7 930 or i3 4160?

Hello!

While the i7 does support more cores/threads than the i3, due to stronger single core performance the i3 will outperform the i7 by a decent margin.

Dual cores while looked down upon by the majority of public, still have a place in the gaming world, and there should be no issues while gaming, especially with the extra threads the i3 comes with.

In terms of video editing the i7 will perform better with the software being able to take advantage of those extra cores/threads, but the i3 is by no means a bad cpu in video editing and should perform great.
