Hi guys,

I'm planning to build a gaming PC that can handle max game settings on 1080p. I only have a budget for a 60Hz monitor so reaching just 60fps on ultra settings is the goal.

I will play BF1, The Witcher, Tomb Raider, The Last of Us, and the likes. Do you think this set-up will work? Also, please let me know if you have other recommendations for cheaper parts without sacrificing performance and quality. Lastly, future-proofing wise, do you think this rig will be able to handle upcoming games in good settings in let's say 2-3 years time?

Here's the build that I made, (after days of contemplation and research lol):

CPU: Intel Core i3-6100 3.70 GHz Skylake Processor
GPU: XFX RX 480 GTR Black Edition 8GB
RAM: Kingston HyperX Fury 8GB Single DDR4 2133
MOBO: MSI H110M PRO-VH
Storage 1: Samsung 850 Evo 250GB SSD
Storage 2: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB
Power Supply: Seasonic G-550 550W 80Plus Gold Modular
Monitor: BenQ ZOWIE RL2455 24" Wide Led Monitor
Case: Thermaltake Versa H15 Windowed Chassis

Btw, my budget is around PhP40,000 (Philippine Peso), approximately $800, excluding the monitor.

Really appreciate your thoughts and insights on this. Thanks a lot in advance!

Oops sorry still a newbie. I didn't know how to reply to a specific answer to I clicked the "arrow" thing. Already updated the post. I'm looking into an $800 budget excluding the monitor. @Ali Tauseef

Don't get the 6100 now. Get the Pentium G4560, costs almost half the price and performs similarly. However, a true quad core is recommended considering your GPU. With a dual core/Quad threaded setup you are bound to be CPU limited in quite a few games especially at 1080P.

The system listed by Geeeens comes to 56,369 according to the site he links to.

@ Geeeens: If you swap the i3 for a i5 7500, drop the SSD and switch to this GPU: https://dynaquestpc.com/product/zotac-gtx-1070-mini-8gb-zt-p10700k-10m/ the system will be much stronger, and cost the same.

Thanks a lot for the suggestion guys.

Btw, I'm afraid that the cart is appearing as "empty" whenever I'm trying to click on the link thank you have provided, Ali. Maybe because I'm using a different browser/mobile? Would you mind copy/paste-ing the build you've made so that I can take a look?

Again, thank you so much for all the help.

Thank you so much for the suggestion, Ali! Will definitely take these insights into consideration. I still have until next month to weigh things out.

Anyway, I'm also contemplating about getting the i5-7500 + GTX 1070 combo just like what coozie7 suggested and sacrifice some of the components i.e. SSD. But won't this be overkill for a 1080p gaming on a 60 Hz monitor?

Sure!

Well honestly for 1080p gaming a 1070 would be overkill. I would suggest it only for 1440p gaming.

I agree with Ali Tauseef, a GTX1070 is a little too much for 1080 gaming at the moment, a RX480 is plenty good enough even in demanding titles to keep gameplay smooth, although it'll show more frame rate dips in particularly demanding sections than the bigger Nvidia card. BUT, in 2-3 years time it'll probably will be struggling, as will the i3, and you did state you would like the system to last 2-3 years, which is why I've suggested you drop the SSD and put the money into a faster CPU and graphics card.
That said, the system listed by Ali Tuaseef is a nicely balanced setup and keeps the SSD, if you want that nice, fast SSD and can't afford to add the GTX1070 into his specs then so be it, I'm not going to suggest you get into debt.
One last point: AMD is releasing its new 4 and 6 core parts fairly soon, I suggest you keep an eye out for announcements while you wait.
