Do I really need it?

Hi, I am building a pc with dual zotac gtx1080 ti fe cards and triple monitors. What my question is is do I really need two or will just one work. Also, what change in performance would happen

Solution
Not at 4k, at 3 x 4k. 4k a 1080 will do OK in most games on good settings. The frame rate will scale pretty evenly with the resolution, so if you get 60 FPS on a single 4k monitor, expect 20 on three of them.

Just get one monitor at 27 inches. Unless you have good multtasking abilities, then stay with one. If you feel the urge to have another, you get better discounts on cyber monday (black friday weekend). Needs are different from desires. Often people want more than necessary for bragging rights. You did not mention what the purpose of your computer was for (gaming? productivity? content creation? school?). Regardless, you're spending your own $$. No one can tell you what you need. If you think about it, you just need food, clothes and shelter. Don't misuse the term "need" since the appropriate term is what do i value at the moment? What has better value in the current state of business or list of priorities?

K, I meant need by wishing for, and I'm getting three for more immersive displays, better gaming, multitasking, more space for all my stuff onscreen, and better vision for others.

Thanks for responding! Yeah this is for gaming and other uses, however, the specs on the CPU, gpu, and displays all equal 4K. Also I can lower resolution

You are buying 10 fans AND have water cooler, plus the storage is not an SSD with almost $5,000 in parts? You need maybe 3 fans, and you want a 515mb - 1tb SSD in the system.

Are you just trying to part together a system from high end parts just to see what you can get for high end parts or are you actually buying this? Three 4k monitors are not good for gaming, even 1080 in SLI will have issues with it. When gaming I'd just run a single monitor and use the others for productivity.

Thank you! I will take your advice. Yes i do plan on buying this. Can you please explain further about the 3 monitors and the sli issues with the build?

two 1080 ti's are great for a single 4k monitor, 60 fps

also you dont need that crappy soundcard, the motherboard has better built in sound

at that price point you want an ssd as primary boot device

Ok. I removed the sound card and added a hybrid drive for price and efficiency. But how much performance difference would happen if I ran 3 4K monitors?
Here is updated part list

hybrid drives are garbage

you want a pure ssd as primary for OS + games with a mechanical backup for storage

if you ran three 4k monitors your settings would need to be drastically reduced and your fps would tank on any newer game if you used more than a signle 4k display for gaming

no performance loss if you used the other two monitors for windows tasks only

Thanks I'll remove the hybrid and place in a ssd. Will my frame rate go from around 60 fps to around 20fps?
