I've upgraded my RAM, doubling 8GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3 and the computer started working slower in fact! Not sure why. I run a dual boot Ubuntu 16.04 + Windows 10, built the system myself in January 2013. Should I install some updates? Any suggestions are welcome.

System (64bit):
Intel i7-3770 CPU @ 3.40GHz,
GeForce GTX 970 4Gb
16GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3

Solution
If mixing different DIMM's, there is a risk of incompatibility, and the system will run at the lowest frequency common to all DIMM's.

So, for example, if using 1600 MHz DIMM's and 1333 MHz DIMM's then the system will run the DIMM's at 1333 MHz.

What are the part numbers of the DIMM's (C . . .)?

You can look with cpu-z (freeware) for that.Look under the "spd tab".

Or the next will give all parts including which ram is used,

download hwinfo32,
install and open it=click run,
close the top window which is the system summary,
at the left top click "save report",
at the bottom of the next window check "short text report",
after that you'll see what's in the pc,
copy by clicking "copy to clipboard" and rightclick+paste in your next respons
