Hi all, First off as title says, I know with out doing some tweaking to the BIOS it will not work. I am building a computer for my nephew to play on when he comes over and the board I have is crossfire ready. I have a lot of parts sitting around that I was hoping to use and also wanted to make it as "COOL" as possible. I had two GTX 960's in my computer but upgraded to two 1070's and was hoping to run the 960's (water cooled, I have a few universal GPU blocks) in the one I am building for him. I don't care if it functions as "SLI" so long as it will run ok. He is 11 years so A) he will not be playing any real demanding games and B) he would think playing on a water cooled rig is awesome. I have all the parts (except the radiator) I need to put it together. If running both cards won't work I could just run one of them. Like I said just trying to dress it up.
Thanks for any advice.

Solution
What is the make/model of the motherboard you intend to use?

If SLI is not supported, then just go with a single GPU. No need to complicate things for no performance gain.

Thanks for the reply. The board is a ASRock Fatal1ty z170 gaming K4/D3. When I bought it I wasn't paying attention to the SLI/Crossfire part, my bad. Like I said was just trying to do it for the "Eye candy" thing, but if it's a major project.....I don't want to screw stuff up. Thanks again.

I think (for now) I am going to just run the one because I don't have another SLI bridge and the power supply I have only has one PCIE plug. Guess I'm missing more then just the radiator :p. He is coming over Friday So will look in to the 2D surround thing and get the parts I need if I decide to go that route.
right now as it sits
MoBo= listed above
CPU= I5-6500
GPU= EVGA GTX 960 SC 4Gb
GPU Cooling= Hyper 212 EVO
Case= Thermaltake Versa H22-Window
RAM= PNY XLR8 DDR3 1866MHz 8GB (2x4)
and four Thermaltake Riing 120mm blue fans so it kinda has that "cool" look and should be plenty fast enough for FO3, Bio shock and what ever else I through on there. Again thanks for the advice.
