Recently upgraded my CPU and motherboard to a Z170x gigabyte gaming 5 and i5- 6700.

I'm not very tech savvy and so I'm at a loss, regardless of what game I'm playing (ARK, CSGO, far cry etc) frames and performance is great until I turn left or right at which point I get massive frame drops. In csgo I will drop from 200fps to 15 for 2-3 seconds. In ark I will drop from 50fps to 10 for a few seconds, same with far cry.

My GPU is an Asus strix II 970x, this didn't happen before the upgrade. (Aprox 1.5 yr old)

I've installed drivers for both the motherboard and CPU (I feel I may not have everything for the CPU but I've installed what I've found.

Also regardless of game it shows CPU running at 95% and memory at 80+%.

Mother board: gigabyte Z170x Gaming 5
CPU: i5 - 7600
GPU: Asus strix II 970x
SSD 512GB Samsung evo 550 has both OS and games on it
HDD sea gate 1tb
RAM: 2x 8GB ripjaw ddr4 2333mhz

BIOS update has "fixed" issue, frames are still lost but now I'm only dropping to 80 in CSGO rather than down to 15.

Thanks all for the help.

Just did a BIOS update, I'm about to see if it has an effect on performance.

BIOS update seems to be the winner, frames are still lost a bit but now it's from 200+ down to 80 in csgo which is definitely a big step up.

Thank you.

20 minutes of CSGO and the temp goes from 35-40 up to a high of 59 but avg of 55.

BIOS update seems to have fixed the issue or at least I now only drop to 80 frames instead of 15.
