Chipset Selection between X99 and Z270

I need help selecting what chipset is best between the X99 and Z270.

Apparently, the Z270 is the latest and greatest but custom PC building companies are still using the X99 chipset with the ASUS Rampage V motherboard. Asus has just released new motherboards for the Z270 chipset.

Should I buy a Z270 chipset or X99 Chipset?

Z270 if only gaming. X99 could be ideal if you do content creation on the side, where it can lower render times compared to Z270 CPU's. X99 is obviously good for gaming aswell, but really excels in workstation based workloads, such as video rendering, virtual machines, etc.
