Hey all,

I have a HP compaq pro 6300 Microtower, and i want to ask that, the motherboard doesn't have 24-pin connector but there is an 8-pin cpu connector.

my question is: Can I gaming with my gtx 1060 without 24-pin connector on my motherboard but instead, 8-pin connector?

ps. my psu has 8pin connector so i don't really worry about pci express thingy, all i worry just the 24-pin connector.

Sorry i was kinda noob in here :/

Solution
HP has those 20-pin connector MB for their OEM PC. Dell has those MB too, but the 20-pin is smaller than the regular size on the dell OEM PC, you need to buy the adapter.

Thankfully, most of the PSU has 20+4 pin so that you can use the 20-pin connector only for your MB, the 4-pin one can be left unplugged.
1) Do you update your HP PSU yet? if no, that PSU can not handle your PC with the newer GPU, gtx1060. Usually all the OEM PC will have around 300W PSU. For gtx 1060, you should get at least 400W PSU or up .

2) And for the HP PC, they are very picky for the non-OEM GPU, you should try similar GPU first, something like gtx650 ( required 400W PSU ) or gt 730 ( required 300W PSU), etc. Here is info for why. http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03653200

For 20-pin MB, as long as the PSU can handle the GPU, you are fine.

1. I was planning to buy Antec Vp 500

2. Really? But some of people said 'if you don't have any 20 or 24 pin connector on mobo, its not normal'. So does that mean i don't really worry about that?

Does that mean i don't really doubt about the connector from psu?

You are better to open the PC case to check it out, just make sure the connector is regular size, because all I saw is from the picture/manual. If it is the regular size, you are fine.
