AMD A6 or Intel i3 for heavy word processing?

Hi all, I'm a freelance book editor in need of a new laptop. Of the two I'm choosing between, one has an AMD A6 and the other has an Intel i3. I need something that can cope with huge Word files with thousands of edits without jamming up (my current Intel Celeron can't cope). I also do some photo editing. Which processor would be better? (Additionally, the Intel i3 laptop is £50 more). Thanks!

Ok all 3 of those will run Word identically. You probably would never even be able to tell.

That said I would get the i5, just in case you ever decide to do more than Word.

Intel is your friend. Word does a lot of single threaded workloads, where the i3 will perform better than the APU. If you can, try and afford a faster i5. The higher the clockspeed the better. I would consider the i3 as a minimum. If it is for your job, and you can afford it, get a more expensive system.

When it comes to laptops always get the most expensive and fastest one you can afford.

They are low power and not upgradeable, so the fastest one will "last" the longest.

TBH you'd never notice the difference between processors using them for Word, it would come down more to which SSD or Hard drive they use that you'd see a difference.
