Is there something wrong with my 1080 Ti FE? I'm getting low or lower frame rate FPS than everyone else. It is actually performing much like my former 980 Ti did.

My system is comprised of the following:

Core i7 4790k
24GB Ram (16GB Corsair Vengeance and 8GB Kingston Fury)
ASRock Z97 OC Formula ITX Mobo
GTX 1080 Ti
Acer Predator XB270HU 1440p 144hz GSync monitor

I want to only speak of Battlefield 1 as that is all I really play. So for example, there is a guy online who has nearly the exact same setup as me and in Argonne Forest for example, he reaches 145 FPS averaging 125 whereas I'm averaging only 80-85fps and .axing out at 110.

Even if I overclock my CPU to 4.7ghz and my Gpu to reach 2ghz core, I see absolutely zero difference! My temps are actually quite good for my setup where my ambients are quite high due to a well heated room.

Should I RMA and wait for non reference versions of this GPU? Please help, guys. This is my first build.

Solution
What % usage do you get on your CPU and GPU?

I've recently brought a 1080Ti FE and I'm also struggling with FPS in Battlefield 1- all ultra settings and I get 55-75 FPS and drops to about 45 (my i7 4790k is not overclocked, just at base turbo 4.4)

I'm also under invastigation with nvidia support but they do take ages to reply...

UPDATE: I did some digging and I think I might of figgured it out with some help from my own thread...

What FPS are you getting as you didn't say? Did you see the memory frequency in that video? If you look around at reviews I would expect you to be around 105 FPS on average. Have you tried running as Directx11 vs 12?

Edit: What is your CPU utilization? Take a look at this: https://www.reddit.com/r/Battlefield/comments/57nh6y/bf1_performance_tips_for_pc_potentially_huge_fps/

Looks like there are some tweaks to try, the one about changing the "RenderDevice.RenderAheadLimit" would be a good one to try out in your case. With all your extra GPU horsepower I would try setting that to 2.

Facepalm, my bad. I'll update the OP. So I'm getting mostly 85 fps on average but also hitting 110 at times, on the same map for reference. And yes, DX12 causes quite a few issues for me. So I'm always in DX 11. My in game settings are identical to the guy in the youtube video I posted in the OP.

I'll have a look at the reddit post once I'm home. Just collecting the kids from school.

That is a bit low. So I'm assuming some things here since you said not much changed when upgrading your GPU that you are pretty CPU bound. That setting "RenderDevice.RenderAheadLimit" will cause the CPU to stay x frames ahead of the GPU to keep it fed. You should see more GPU load and a bit less CPU load if you bump it to 2 or maybe also try 3.

Do report back if something works so others can see the solution. I have high hopes for the "RenderDevice.RenderAheadLimit" since you have such a powerful GPU.

If you have Geforce Experience, then disable the "share" option in the settings tab. This helped me and a few other people with 10- series GPU's. Also make sure the drivers are up to date. Geforce Experience can update and install drivers for you.
