Hi, i have amd athlon x4 740 and i need to upgrade it because i have gtx 1050 ti and it's not enough for this card. I think about pentium g4560 and a MSI B250M PRO-VDH motherboard. I also need to buy ddr4 ram, i thinked about Crucial Ballistix Sport DDR4 8GB but i dont know if this is good. My budget for both cpu and mobo and ram is 200 £

Solution

I used to own that same CPU (the x4 740) and it definitely struggled with modern games. Keep in mind this was back in 2014, it struggled with watch dogs 1, battlefield 3...

... I think the G4560 will feel like a decent upgrade for your budget, it would be less of an upgrade if you had an OC'd 860k but the 740 was the weakest quad for that socket (don't upgrade to an 860k by the way, I'm just sayin')

The g4560 is a great budget gaming cpu, good choice. Although I would stretch to 16gb ram if you can:

The MSI board has only 2 RAM slots, and for another £3 you get 2 more RAM slots.

A G4560 would be an upgrade, but you're moving from one low-budget CPU to another, slightly better low budget CPU. It might be wise to save up another ~75-100 quid for an i5.

You can't do any better for £200, but in some cases it's not going to be much of an improvement. The Pentium's cores are close to twice as fast, but it also has half the cores (plus hyperthreading). In anything not well threaded, you'll see a noticeable boost.
