FPS drops after RAM swap

Hi guys I replaced 2 x 4gb 2800mhz sticks of ram with 2 x 8gb 2133mhz.

When I loaded battlefield I got horrible frame rate dropping sometimes under 10fps.

Now I've replaced the sticks again with the old ones but I'm still having horrible frame rate drops...

I was not having any frame rate problems before swapping the ram.

Has anyone heard of this before?

My board only supports up to 2133mhz ddr4..

Your MB probably seriously underclocked your RAM. Either reset your BIOS as helpstar said or go into your BIOS and fix the RAM setting* yourself.

*only mess with BIOS settings if you know what you are doing

Should I remove board battery with the new sticks of ram in?

Yes, unlpug the system - remove the battery - wait 5 mins - put new battery in - plug the system back in - test.

run 3dmark fire strike (demo), after the benchmark click on compare result online and post the upcoming link

check if the cooler is still in place

update your BIOS to version 1.20 inside BIOS itself with instant flash:

should improve compatibility and eventually you can OC your RAM then too

reset the BIOS correctly, have a look at the manual how to clear cmos (page 21)

i've correctly reset and updated the bios and have reset with both sets of sticks yet still having the performance issue..

i was running 60fps before swap. I've reinstalled battlefield and removed and reinstalled display drivers and same issue, at one point it seemed like the game got smooth again for a certain map and then received the same issue

could my board be damaged? or worse cpu?

gpu has been tested on alternate machine and works correctly

I don´t think something is damaged.

Run intel processor diagnostics tool and post the max. temperature

Which BIOS version is currently installed?

Restart windows (don´t shutdown and cold boot, just restart) so windows can freshly load its components

okay i redownloaded battlefield over night again from scratch and it was running with no problems UNTIL I RESTARTED my PC... the Frame drops were back to the same problem.....

my bios version is 1.20

other games (offline) are running fine?

check HDD/SSD with its manufacturer´s tool

Doom ran fine along with mafia 3 .

Will have to test memory and SSD after work

Why would it work before I rebooted and then not afterwards?
