What is the best and cheapest motherboard for the AMD Phenom X4 9650?

My friend wants a new motherboard for this CPU and he will only be using it just for light gaming and browsing the web. He was given it for free but the motherboard is dead so he needs a new one. I am not to tech smart when it comes to AMD CPU's and do not want to order the wrong motherboard. So can someone recomend me the cheapest and decent quality motherboard for this CPU? It doesnt need to be fancy just as long as it handles 8GB Ram and a slot for a GPU and he is happy.

Well, this is a tough one. If it is AM2+ that likely means DDR2, which isn't a motherboard type you are likely to find easily.

Might be easier to simply get a new CPU/Motherboard/Ram at this point.

Best place to get a board for an ancient CPU is eBay. I would not even consider buying one new.

Well he wants a new motherboard for it for some reason, i guess to just tinker with and such. I tried to talk him into getting a newer CPU and Motherboard and Ram like me. I will be selling him my MSI 1080 when i get my new MSI 1080Ti when it comes out but i told him that CPU he has probably wont even run a 1080 and if it does it will bottleneck it so bad it wont get any fps lol

If that is the plan, you'll just have to convince him. A 1080 probably wouldn't play too nice with an AM2+ board and its PCIe gen 1 slots and lack of UEFI BIOS.
