Hello everyone,

My objective is play CS GO with 144+ FPS with the minimum of money. My current hardware is:

Intel Q9400 2.66 Quad Core
Cooler Master Hyper 212X
Zotac GTX 650 Ti Boost
Asus P5Q
4x2 GB DDRII-800 G.Skill CL 5-5-5-15 1.8v
Kingston SSD 240GB 300 NOW
Seasonic 620W

I´m wondering if a 1060 6GB from NVidia will do the trick. Does someone know if it is compatible with my motherboard? If yes, how much of his potential can I extract?

Any other suggestion to reach this objective is welcome.

Solution
I guess it would be your CPU that limits your framerate in that region.
A GTX 1060, 960 and R9 280X more than capable once you turn the settings downs.
I doubt that older DDR2 motherboard will work with a new video card. You probably need to go a generation or two older. You can try the card with a BIOS update but newer cards tend to need a newer UEFI motherboard.

Try something like a Radeon 280X or nVidia 960.

Hmmm, right. I don´t have much room for mistakes and need the best possible VGA. How sure are you about 960 being the best for my case?

If someone else have a related experience I would really like to know.

Thanks.

Thanks lordmogul and hang-the-9 for your answers. I´ve purchased the 1060 and was able to get around 70% of his potential when running a benchmark test.
