Hey guys, when I did my Ryzen 7 build I bought some 3000Mhz RAM with it but unfortunately it's still running at 2133Mhz. I'm pretty new to the whole RAM timing business and was wondering if anyone could help me get it running faster.

CPU: Ryzen 1700x
RAM: Corsair LPX 3000Mhz
MOBO: MSI Gaming Pro Carbon

I just flashed my BIOS to version 1.2 but that didn't seem to help with being able to set the RAM to a higher frequency. Does anyone have any advice on things to try or should I just wait for more BIOS updates?

Well that sucks. I wish MSI's website would tell you more about each update. All 1.2 said was increased RAM compatibility and system stability updates. It'd be nice to know more about the specific issues addressed.

If you had a Asus board (the X370's at least) they released a new bios a few days ago. Some Youtubers are getting 3200Mhz now or faster from 3000Mhz ram. Same on a few forums. My self I have 3200Mhz trident z that I want to hit and with bringing the trimming down a tad. 16-18-18-38 to 16-16-16-36. If not got to get the better trident z's.

Yeah that's another thing that has me so disappointed. I'm running the X370 chipset but it appears all of MSI's boards reguardless of chipset are really slow with the BIOS updates. This is only the second update since release. ASUS and others already have 4 or 5 revisions out. Then again as long as they get it right and I can run everything at their rated speed or above in the near future I'll be happy. Just like with the temps I still don't know what my actual temps are and I don't want to overclock my CPU until I'm absolutely sure I know exactly what they are. Price you pay for being an early adopter I know but the information should be more readily available.

Your main pain is self inflicted impatience as u say.

The good news is not only do u have a good system now, but it will continue to get better, and at no cost.

A nicer place to be than a stagnant mature product if u ask me.
