Second hand GTX 1070 testing + bios update question

Hello guys,

Took me some time and I finally got my Sapphire Radeon 7850 upgraded to Palit GTX 1070 JetStream (can't wait to see the difference). I got I believe great deal on that card so I am bit worried but the person I bought it from seems reliable. Now I have 2 questions.

1. How to properly test the card? I mean I am looking for something that I could run test and then compare results to others with same card or other 1070 (so I can know that card behaves as it should). So far from google search I found http://www.userbenchmark.com/ but not sure if that does what I need.

I probably use futuremark to just stress test.

2. I can see a lot of posts and recommendations to upgrade bios to either Gamerock bios or SuperJetStream. But I cannot find what would be benefit of that (in the posts I can only see somethig about power value change for OC, but I would not be interested in OC atm).
Is there any benefit to update bios to higher level card then?

If there is what would be the difference between Super JetStream, Gamerock, Gamerock Premium and Gamerock Premium + G-Panel? as those are the bios options I can see.

Thanks a lot.

Without looking into it, generally you only want to apply the intended BIOS to your card. Those BIOS may be for cards with different hardware configurations may make the card inoperative. Though the feature differentiation between some models may only be the firmware.

Since it would be such a gain in performance, simply try to run something that your computer struggled with before. As long as you are satisfied with the performance, nothing else should really matter.

UserBenchmark does have the advantage of letting you match up against someone with a similar CPU. But there are more GPU centric benchmarks like Unigine Valley that you can use to compare to other GTX1070.

As to your concern with GPU bios I agree but in case of Palit and its dual bios I think it might be different story, I really see people recommending to do the bios swap but only reason I see is OC not sure if there is any other.

As to Unigine Valley, thanks for that I never heard about this software but will test for sure. Only question would be if it allows me to compare on a FREE version? or Pro would be needed for that?

You don't really need anything special to overclock a Pascal GPU. They run into frequency issues long before they reach temperature and voltage limits. Actually quite a simple process.

I believe most people use the free version. There are many many others, but a lot of them go for total system performance, so CPU gets factored in a lot more heavily. Unigine is actually pretty old, but still a valid test and good for testing across a wide range of cards and platforms.

Run some tests and not sure how to compare results.
User Benchmark shows 101% for graphic card saying is bit better then others with 1070 card.
Unigine Valley gave me score just over 3000 on Extreme HD but have no idea how to compare this to others.
Used FurMark to stress test and to run 1080p test got score of 6000 (but again not sure how to compare, the page it sends you too just have snapshot of last scores uploaded and top 20 has all people using cards in SLI) and stress test got card to 68C top and fan speed of 38%

Card is silent, it is crazy and my feet are cold even while gaming. Hope above means everything is fine with card.
