Hello,
i have a gtx 970 and a 1440p monitor. however, while not bad, the fps is not satisfying.
The reason im consedering a gtx 980ti is because of the price difference.
Asus STRIX-GTX980TI-DC3OC-6GD5-GAMING : 320 dollars
Asus DUAL-GTX1070-8G : 390 dollars
What should i do?

Thanks in advance,
Leon

If price is a big concern and spending the extra $70 is a hardship, then the 980Ti is still a very solid card and you'll get a good performance increase over your 970. Not to mention the fact that you gain an extra 2GB of VRAM which will help more games on the higher resolution.

If you can afford the 1070, you'd be better off getting that card over the 980Ti. While both are similar in performance, the 1070 is slightly faster than the 980Ti. Also, with it being a newer card, it will have better driver support over the 980Ti. Nvidia will be focusing on making sure that their Pascal cards benefit the most from driver updates over older models.

Get the 1070 if you can afford it, but if spending the extra cash puts a strain on you to...

Get the 1070 if you can afford it, but if spending the extra cash puts a strain on you to obtain it, you'll still get a very good upgrade picking up the 980Ti.
