Will the intel I5 work?

I have a 12 yr old motherboard well the whole computer itself is 12 years old and works normally. What i am trying to invset in is a intel I5 processor and i am asking if it will fit with the motherboard. I have c hanged the power supply, the graphics card and added a bit of ram.

No, it won't work. Not only does an i5 have different pinouts (all on LGA115X) but different power requirements, core counts/capabilities the BIOS doesn't know how to use, and they have more modern memory controllers that won't be able to utilize a 12 year old motherboard's 12 year old RAM.

Intel changes CPU socket and platform chipset roughly every other year. Apart from a few exceptions a long time ago where some CPUs could be made to work on motherboards they weren't intended for by breaking pins and soldering jumper wires under the CPU, a new socket means new CPU and new motherboards for everyone who wants to upgrade. Today's newest CPUs all require DDR4, so you'll need to replace your DDR1/2 memory as well.
