I wouldn't try it ; socket, yes. BIOS, maybe. Ability to safely supply the power to the CPU? No. It can't do well with an AMD FX 8 core, it won't do well with a Phenom pulling the same power.

With proper cooling, it should run just fine, but I wouldn't want to be stressing it for long periods of time (like in gaming). For web browsing, e-mail, documents and spreadsheets; typical office work, it would be fine. Anything that's going to peg the CPU for an extended period of time, will likely have the motherboard overheating.
