So, I've had this problem forever where I'm getting uncharacteristically low fps at games like league of legends (under 100 fps) and csgo (under 100 fps) in ASUS EZ MODE normal bios setting (the middle one), but when I turn it up to Optimal so I can get decent fps for my 144hz monitor, while it does run with 200-300 fps , the pc just hard freezes in the middle of gameplay with sound loop and requires a restart to work again.

This is my setup:
Windows 10
Sapphire Radeon r9 280x dual-x
Asus m5a97 le r2.0
Amd fx 8350 black edition
Seasonic S12II-620

Might be worth mentioning that the case zaps me when i touch and also my keyboard which is mostly metal.

To Chipp_ : Well, I recommend you to try disassemble and reassemble your entire PC. Make sure your graphic card is correctly inserted in. If it not helps you, it means that problem is with some particular component. Your problem indicates you have defected GPU or Motherboard.
The diference between us is that I don't have any defects on screen (like some green stripes), so maybe we don't have the same problem. But try change the GPU and you will see, if the problem persist (at first, try some other, older or some which you needn't to buy). If it will be ok after replacement, you should buy new one. If it doesn't solve your problem, you must try replace other components and find, which is defected.
Power Supply Warranty - S12II Series 5 years (3 years if purchased before September 2012)

Asus Optimal Mode is a fancy name for software overclocking. It works in some cases and in others it doesn't work well.

Performance problems can be caused by your choice of memory as well as the BIOS memory parameter settings.

Using three different memory modules is not recommended. With a matched pair, you can run 1866MHz or with all slots filled 1600MHz.

A single kit is recommended.

You should also set the memory parameters in BIOS:
1) Memory Clock
2) DRAM Timings
3) DRAM Voltage

These are specified on the memory package.

No guarantees on how a system with a mix of memory modules like you have will run.

Hi,
I want to mention, that I have similar problems. My PC randomly freezes, doesn't matter if I am playing game or just watching videos, it freezes. Temperature is good, CPU-50°C, MB-55°C, GPU-60°C (when playing Witcher 3 on Ultra, I have very good cooling system). I have this problems since February 2017. I thought it was graphic card, so i used guarantee and after 1 month I get new one, but the problem persist (ergo the problem is not the GPU). I also have:
W10 -64bit
ASUS M5A97 R2.0
AMD FX 8350
Sapphire Radeon Nitro+ RX480 4GB
Crono 600W
I also noticed that there are very more users with similar problems since January 2017 and that amount of complaints have increased since that month.
Perhaps some update from Windows is causing that.

Update: My graphics card failed while watching a movie... The screen went green with lines and froze with audio stutter and I had to restart manually. When windows loaded, I had black screen. Went to safe mode and uninstalled driver and now it works with little horizontal green stripes on the entire monitor. In bios I have visual glitches aswell...
