Old Intel SSD Stability Issue?

A while back my pops gave me his old Intel 520 series 180GB SSD to use as my main drive, and I use all of my other drives for extra storage. I have about 10GB of space left, and running the HD Tune benchmark shows some pretty skewed results: http://i.imgur.com/FqW7quQ.png

At it's best it gets 350MB/s, but it goes as low as 214 MB/s. Is this normal for an SSD? Hard drives don't seem to behave this way. It is a pretty old SSD, Cherryville series.

Solution
The original sata ssd devices did not run 6gb sata ports, so your 350mb/s is normal.

Possibly more worrying is the 95% full.
The lack of free nand blocks will have a very bad effect on updates.
They will take longer, and use up the available writes quickly.
Time, I think to replace it with something larger.
when you got the drive did you use the sercure erase to make sure it was clean before you used it?? on the older ssd like your and mine the vendors have the firmware set a set space for wear levling and clean up. if you fill the drive up it slow down becuae of this.
