GTX 1050 Ti for 1366x768? (Or GTX 1060 or RX 470 / 480)

Hello,

I'm looking forward to a GPU upgrade to last 3 - 4 years and hope you guys can help me out.

So far I have been playing games such as Battlefield 1, Batman: AK, Hitman, Deus Ex: MD fine on 1366x768 resolution with ASUS GeForce GTX 660. I'm not interested in Multiplayer and worried about playing in Ultra settings either.

Eventhough I'm tempted to shoot for a 1060 (3GB), pricing and VRAM(?) holds me back. Then again I'm wondering if 1060 is an overkill for my resolution.

Would GTX 1050 Ti (Prefer MSI Gaming X 4GB version ~ $210 w/ Warranty: 3 Years) be the ideal choice over GTX 660?

Or should I look for a RX 470 / 480 (4GB) at least or save up for a 1060 (3GB)?

Thanks.

Solution
Yeah, I know.
The 1060 is the better choice if they're the same price, but if you can get a good cooler for the RX 480 that's also a good option.

at that resolution 3gb of vram is more than enough

that said a 1050 ti would be a very good upgrade from a 660

There's a fantastic deal on an RX 470 for $129.99 after rebate atm, great cooler as well.

Thanks for the prompt responses.

The reason I was worried about the 3GB VRAM was Black Ops 3 and Rainbow Six Siege pretty much gobbled the 2GB with only High settings. Hence the 4GB.

Wish I could grab that RX 470. It's ~ $255 here. Unfortunately, Newegg or Amazon doesn't ship to Sri Lanka.

Is it true the AMD cards will be a better choice with DX12 games?

I should have :D lol

Actually, LKR. I'm not in India. My budget is LKR 30000 ~ USD 200

Oh right sorry, mb. :)
Get this, best value as far as I can see unless there's an in stock 1050ti somewhere.

However, I recommend saving up for the RX 480 you listed above, that's much better value for money.

No problem :) Thanks for the recommendation. It's a 1050 with 2GB VRAM though.

Both 480 4GB and 1060 3GB in the same price range here - LKR 43000 ~ USD 275. Would you still recommend 480?

Actually, you can check my OP for the links I listed. Those 2 has 1050 Ti / 1060 / 480 etc. and restock pretty soon.

Then it's 1050 Ti or 1060 / 480 if I'm patient enough.

Thanks :)
