Hi so i did read the other posts about klicking noise on a hdd.
but it did not quite answer my questions
it is my storage disk seagate 2tb the ssd is fine luckily. the weird part is the klicking only starts when i try to install a game with steam. it does not matter if i try the install on the ssd or the seagate the seagate starts klicking anyway. and it doesnt stop if i reboot using restart. however it stops when i shut down totally, wait a little and start again.
first thing i did i googled. there it said to unplug the data cable when one hears the klicking. i did. the klicking stopped. according to google my data cable is at fault not my hdd. is that true? because after reading a few posts here i used crystaldisc and it said caution for the seagate. uncorrectable sectors 16 hmm. i could do a backup of my pictures. to copy them was no problem. i will try if i can install another game or use games installed on the drive and report further. but my main question is as above if it is only the data cable. im not sure because when i unplugged it stopped klicking but it also shut down my pc with an error. greetings b.
so it seems i can run games on the seagate just fine. soooo what now?^^ is the steam install corrupted? its some free to play indie let me try to install another game. installing on my ssd works now Oo but on the seagate it starts klicking. now i tried an older game to the seagate that worked lol so now i tried a few free to play games over steam. they all worked small ones big ones even mmos with good graphics. so just the one i tried this morning makes my seagate klicking. devs fault? or i just have a few broken sectors and this one is the only one who tried to use exactly those?
