I'm nervous about overclocking, will it actually show a difference? No clue where to start.

Hello! I'm thinking about overclocking my i5-4690k but i'm nervous as I have no idea where to start. I've had many people tell me that it's worth it, but i'd like to hear other peoples opinion. Is it actually worth it? Will I notice a difference? I'm currently playing a game called H1Z1 and it is VERY cpu intensive to say the least. Unlike most games where it's gpu. Any advice / tips would very much be appreciated.

So overclocking is pretty safe and easy these days... Everyone was where you are at some point. You just need to take it slow and try it out. For my personal story, I had a 8350 that I mildly overclocked, then a 6700k that I have really pushed...

The best advice I can give you is to read the forum regularly cause...

The best advice I can give you is to read the forum regularly cause there is a lot of great info that you will pick up over time. Ask questions cause people here love to answer them. And just do some mild overclocking until you feel like you are confident enough to really tweak your system.

And some practical advice... I've found that buying a good motherboard for overclocking is important. You can't work with a board that doesn't allow it or doesn't support it well... After that, get some good cooling... I like a lot of air movement through your case so all those important parts on the board don't get too hot and make BSOD's. And finally, your cpu needs a good heatsink.. I've had a lot of success with the corsair H110i... A big radiator seems to keep my chip cool...

So I hope that helps... Take baby steps until you get a handle on it, then make great leaps...
