I recently bought a new pc that has an i3 6100 CPU. I installed the stock cooler that came with it and was just wondering if it is normal for the fan to be on all of the time, even when I am doing literally nothing on my computer. Its also fairly loud, so its quite annoying when I am not using headphones...

Hello!

Sadly it is normal for the stock for to not only spin while idle, but also be loud. Stock coolers are the bare minimum of pc cooling, and due to that the fan has to work harder to cool the chip efficiently. If this is an issue, I'd say a worth upgrade would be a Arctic Freezer LP CPU cooler, which performs much quieter.

If you consider purchasing it though I'd check for compatibility before purchasing it as a small few have had it interfere with ram (This compatibility issue is mainly found with mini itx boards).

Hope this was of some help!
